I leave my computer for a while, and when I come back, I seem to have logged off LaborFirst
As a security precaution, if you are logged on to LaborFirst, but do not use your computer for about an hour, you are automatically logged off - just log in again in the usual way. You can avoid this by selecting the 'Remember Me' option next time you log in. This will automatically log you in next time you come to the site, avoiding the need to re-enter your user name and password. HOWEVER, we strongly suggest you do not use this feature if other people share your computer, as it will give them access to your information on LaborFirst.
Email Lists Problems
There are all sorts of reasons, some temporary, others permanent, why you might experience trouble receiving the LaborFirst email bulletins. This is a list of things to check, which may help resolve non-arrival problems.
Do we have your correct email address?
It might seem a bit obvious, but does LaborFirst have your current email address – perhaps you've changed recently? You can check the registered email address by logging into LaborFirst, then click Edit Profile on the menu. Or email info@laborfirst.com.au .
Is Your Mail Box Full?
A great many of the bounce back emails we receive are due to subscribers with full mail boxes. This is particularly common with web mail services like Hotmail, which only allow you keep a certain quantity of email in your in box. Check your storage levels, and if you are running out of space, delete some older emails. Some ISP accounts (including BigPond) also impose size limits, as do corporate and business networks and mail servers.
Do You Have Anti-Spam Software?
Whilst we don't make it a habit of including naughty words in the LaborFirst bulletins, most anti-spam software works on a word matching principle, looking for specific combinations of words and phrases which might indicate a spam email. If you have control over your anti-spam software configuration, try telling it to always allow emails from LaborFirst. You need to make sure that the following domain is allowed - laborfirst.com.au.
ISP Blanket Anti-Spam Systems
Some Internet Service Providers have blanket anti-spam systems in place these days. Some let you turn it on and off (BigPond has an optional anti-spam filter service for $2.50 a month); others do not. Check if you ISP does have a blanket filter, and if so, ask them to add either the domain ‘laborfirst.com.au' to their ‘White List'. (A white list is a list of allowed email addresses, as opposed to a ‘black list' which is a list of denied addresses).
Have You Blocked Us?
Some mail systems – like Hotmail – let you ‘block' specific email addresses. Check you have not accidentally blocked info@laborfirst.com.au . If you have, you won't be receiving bulletins.
Spam Filters in Email Programs
Some email programs, like Outlook, Outlook Express, and Eudora, let you impose anti-spam filters – for example to select a particular email, and add it to a spam list. Check you have not accidentally classed a LaborFirst bulletin as spam.
Mail Filters in Email Programs
Similarly to the item above, many email programs let you filter incoming emails by subject, title, email address etc, and sort them into different folders – even to automatically delete particular emails. Check you have not set a filter which might affect the LaborFirst bulletins.
